The Criteria for the Formation of the Essential Question     

         Jamie McKenzie (1998) suggested the following criteria for the formation of essential questions:

a.       go to the heart of a discipline

b.      have no obvious “right” answer

c.       are higher-order, in Bloom’s sense

d.      recur throughout one’s learning

e.       are framed to provoke and sustain student interest

f.        link to other essential questions
